Background:

Aerolite is involved in the quarrying of scoria based aggregates from its quarry sites to the south west of Melbourne.  Mining is performed using 2 excavators (Komatsu 100 MT and a Hitachi 80MT) and a bulldozer (Cat D8) with the aggregate transported to 2 crushing plants using Moxy articulated trucks trucks. The operation also has 2 Hyundai loaders supported by a Cat 980 for sales loading and general use.

The two crushing plants use jaw crushers for primary crushing, rolls crushers and a cone crusher for secondary crushing and both plants have multiple screen decks for product sizing. 

The company has been in operation for 6 years. Reserves of un-quarried material are estimated to last for at least 100 years. Current total employment in the company is 17 people.  

The quarry is located 50 kms to the south west of Melbourne or 25 kms to the north of Geelong VIC in a country setting. (Maps showing the location of the quarry can be found at on our web page at http://www.aerolite.com.au/map.htm

Equipment  operator: 

The person we are looking for will have had experience in the operation of Cat and Japanese medium sized loaders in a quarrying or mining environment. Someone who has experience in sales loader work and who has other capabilities in truck driving, excavator or dozer operations would be ideal.

 The person must be a self started and be able to work in a small team environment. 

Conditions of employment

The positions offered would be fulltime positions with a base working week of 40 hrs per week. Persons would be employed under the company’s current workplace agreement (a copy of which can be provided on request) 

Base salary would be negotiated on the basis of age and experience . In addition the company provides a superannuation payment equal to 9.0% of wages.

 The successful applicant would be entitled to 4 weeks annual leave and 8 days per year special leave for sickness etc. 

The nominal working week is 5 by 8 hr days worked between Monday to Saturday to suit the current operation needs. Overtime above the base 40 hrs is paid according to the conditions in the attached workplace agreement.

 The contract would be for a period of 3 years.
