Scoria's unique properties:

Light weight - Aerolite scoria is less than half the weight of equivalent aggregate products (its density is as low as 750 kgs/M3). This means the product is ideal for the manufacture of lightweight concrete and masonry products. It is also an efficient noise reducer. |

Vesicular structure- Due to its aerated nature, it has 100 times the surface area of normal aggregates. This leads to large advantages in water retention as it can be used to drought proof gardens when used as a mulch or soil additive, is also an ideal growing medium for use in soils, hydroponics mixes, growing and potting mixes. It also is an idea filter material |

Complex chemistry - Contains a range of essential trace elements necessary for plant growth and can be used to supplement chemical or animal fertilizers |

Refractory Properties - Due to its structure and chemical composition it is an ideal refractory or insulator when used either by itself or as the major component in fire resistant concrete or masonry products. |
